I always say that everyone has a story just waiting to come out. Think of when you meet someone for the first time. You find out where they are from, if they have brothers or sisters, married, kids, if they are personable, or moody. We all have our quirks. Some of us are reserved and some of us are out there for all of the world to see. I like to think that I am a novel that takes a while to know. The longer you get to know me the more interesting facts you learn about me. I am proud of the fact that I am an Army Brat. Meaning of course that my Father was in the military and I grew up being the new kid in class much of my life. I think that is mainly why I have the career path that I have now. I haven’t finished traveling yet!
I was born in Okinawa, Japan and then moved to New York while my Father did a tour in Korea. I’ve lived in California for a short while, Hawaii for 6 years, Kansas, and finally Missouri. Hawaii being my favorite tour of all. We lived there for three years moved to Kansas for a year and then where lucky enough to move back for another three years. I still consider Hawaii home even after spending the last 24 years in Missouri.
I never spent more than 2 to 3 years in one house until I got married. The perfect boy meets girl in college, graduates, buys a house, has a baby…you know the drill. I have lived in my current house for 9 years and I am getting the itch to move.
In High School I was very active in Drama, Choir, and Debate. I really thought I would be a lawyer until my grades told me otherwise….While I was in Lions Club in High School we helped out some pre school children and I really enjoyed myself. Then it hit me. I wanted to be a teacher! I wanted to show children that learning could be fun and enjoyable. All of the things that my teachers did not do and some of the things that my teachers did do.
I pulled double duty during my undergrad years. Working full-time during the day as a pre school teacher and going to school full-time at night. I graduated with honors. How I did that I do not know! I later went on to earn my degree in Administration. I had a few principals that were not the greatest and I felt I could do better. I taught in the city for 9 years and was a Math Curriculum Specialist for a year and landed in educational publishing.
Yes I have left a few tid-bits out….That will come later….like I said I am a Novel…..
